Pain
The Pain subtheme has two principle aims encompassing research into both acute and chronic pain.
The first, in collaboration with Dr Andrew Moore, is to extend our research investigating clinical trial data to develop better criteria for assessing analgesic efficacy that has direct relevance to the pharmaceutical industry and for the development of better chronic pain treatment algorithms.
Secondly, the research in the subtheme aims to establish a new and novel area of collaborative research between several clinical departments across the campus exploring the incidence of and causal factors involved in persistent postoperative pain.
