Heart Centre Open Day

Patients were invited to a Heart Centre open day in September to hear about medical breakthroughs, state-of-the-art techniques and to tour the new centre.  On the day nearly 500 people listened to presentations from some of the world's leading heart specialists from Oxford.

Their presentations revealed the range and depth of research and innovation that takes place in Oxford.  The audience learned about techniques at the very forefront of medical science; such as advances in digital imaging and using genetics to predict heart problems, which are helping to revolutionise treatment.

Here Professor Hugh Watkins discusses the genetics discoveries that are taking place at Oxford to improve patient care.
