Imaging Research Theme
PET/CT Image
Imaging has become a core medical specialty. Many patients have their diagnosis made and treatment performed in radiology departments, particularly patients with cardiac and neurological disease as well as many cancers. There has been a notable shift from open surgery towards less invasive techniques and imaging is often key to their success. Non-invasive or minimally invasive techniques are more convenient for patients and reduce the time and cost of treatment and recovery.
The imaging theme is installing and investigating state-of-the-art scanning and research devices that will in the future be used in the care of patients with cancer, brain, chest and cardiac disease. We are conducting a series of trials that use imaging in place of other test such as biopsy to try to predict how patients with cancer and other illnesses will respond to treatment.
