Staphylococcus aureus
The development and translation of molecular typing systems to S.aureus has already provided new understandings about the mode of transmission, pathogenic potential and population genetics structure for S.aureus. Completion of these investigations is likely to provide substantial and new insights into the patterns of transmission which will inform preventative strategies. Projects aimed at exploiting complete genomic sequence data of S.aureus are commencing as part of a part of a collaborative project with the Genetics Theme.
