Women and Paediatrics Theme

The Theme is focussed on developing the first Oxford based Pregnancy Biobank.  The Biobank is a strong foundation for translational research especially on pre-eclampsia biomarkers.  This could lead to predictive tests for pre-eclampsia which could revolutionise the delivery of antenatal care and preventive measures.  The theme is also investigating the use of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for mitochondrial DNA disease, the identification of biomarkers for endometriosis and the use of imaging techniques to provide accurate, pre-operative assessment of severe endometriosis.

The Women and Paediatrics Theme has three Sub-themes
